The Ontario Regiment fought with distinction in several theatres during the war, beginning with the Allied invasion of Sicily in July 1943 through the Italian Campaign, unit was engaged in fierce action in the Lori Valley, Monte Cassino, and Ortano. In 1945, the unit was transferred to the Northwestern European Theatre where it fought with distinction in the Dutch Campaign winning battle honours at Arnhem.
