Formed in 1940, the unit served in the Paiforce until June 1942. In 1943, the 8th formed part of the Eighth Army took part in the Italian Campaign to the final battle in the Po Valley. Unit fought very hard battles at El Alamein, Cassino, Serchio Valley and Po Valley
